QOTW: The Long Arm of Mordor

The darkness was breaking too soon, before the date that his Master had set for it: fortune had betrayed him for the moment, and the world had turned against him; victory was slipping from his grasp even as he stretched out his hand to seize it. But his arm was long. He was still in command, wielding great powers.

Ah Firyal, the true queen of the tribe. Never has there been a better scout-traited character in this game.

Encounter Card Opinions

Taking a whopping 90% of the votes (and continuing our trend of having a beneficial location be the favorite encounter card), the winner for favorite encounter card is Village Hut. This card is a thematic home run. The village is being sacked by orcs and you see a hut. If you run inside who will you find? Orcs? Captives? Both? I also really appreciate this card (and others like it) for showing us a look at what Kahliel’s village looks like. We see so few depictions of Far Harad in media that this snapshot into daily life for the tribe is very cool.

This week there were no cards that appeared on both lists.

There were 5 different cards votes for least favorite, but the winner with 3 votes was the Uruk Chieftain. I wonder if this will be this cycle’s Corsair Warship, because we will be seeing this guy several more times in the weeks to come.

Things worth sharing from the games

The deck didn’t have any attachments up and running so I didn’t have to discard those, instead I seemed to get multiple attacks and extra encounter draws due to defeated defenders.. The battle masters made short work with the enemies though.

I ended at 52 threat (thanks Wilhelm!)

I nearly got location locked for a few turns but was just able to churn through it and pull out the win after 13 rounds. In the final round a 10-attach Eagles of the Misty Mountains took out the Uruk Chieftain in one swing.

Firyal worked out great for my Scout-Hobbit TLA deck! She got Fast Hitch on the first turn!

I couldn’t keep on to an attachment to save my life. I almost got overrun and had trouble questing when I had to fight my way through. Lost a lot of allies a couple of rounds. And then, when the fighting was over, I drew Overrun by orcs 2 rounds, raising the threat in the staging area by 8. Ended the quest on 48 threat…

Firyal took the Stone of Elostirion as the Thief in my Riddle-game and quested from there onward (even with a blank text box thanks to the quest achievement!)
